President of the Experimental Theater Club at Oxford University is learning Ukrainian with us!!
Our Ukrainian Language and Culture School www.learn-ukrainian.org.ua is always proud of our students! This time it is Jack Clover, a young British dramaturge and director. Jack is the president of the Experimental Theater Club at Oxford University, winner of the Oxford New Writing competition 2016 and Runner-up in the National Theater of Great Britain’s young playwrights competition 2013. His plays have been staged in Oxford, Edinburgh, USA and the Czech Republic. This script was written especially for these actors and inspired very closely by their own stories, and includes monologues about the actors’ own grandmothers.
“The Orchard” is a new play about the things dearest too us: family, falling in love, and saying goodbye. It is a part of an exciting new project between Drama.UA and Jack Clover.

Цього разу це Джек Кловер, президент Experimental Theatre Club Оксфордському університеті. Переможець конкурсу New writing Оксфорд, 2016. Віце-переможець конурсу Молодих Драматургів Національного театру Великої Британії у 2013. Його п’єси інсценізовані в Оксфорді, Единбурзі, США та Чехії.
Він вивчає українську мову у мову у нашій Школі learn.ukrainian.org.ua і спільно з театром Леся Курбаса ставить виставу «Сад». Вона про найдорожче: сім’ю, любов і прощання.
Це частина нового проекту молодого британського драматурга і режисера Джека Кловера в копродукції з Першою сценою сучаної драматургії “Drama.UA”.
Джерелом натхнення цього проекту стали особисті історії акторів. Сценарій написаний спеціально для них і в нього входять монологи акторів про їхніх бабусь.
“There, in that orchard, the years between us dropped away.”
Katya feels trapped. Her grandmother is ill and losing her memory. Every Saturday Katya retreats to a little garden on the hill behind her flat, in order to escape her grandmother. Little does she know, she couldn’t have chosen a place closer to her.
“The Orchard” will be in Lviv for 2 NIGHTS ONLY on the 18th and 23rd of April at 19:00 at the Les Kurbas Theatre. Do not miss your chance to see the premier of this unique international project!

Катя почувається у безвиході. Її бабуся хворіє. Щосуботи Катя йде в маленький сад на пагорбі позаду будинку, аби втекти від бабусі, не думаючи, що вибрала місце найближче до неї.
«Сад» можна побачити лише двічі: 18-го та 23-го квітня о 19.00 в Львівському академічному театрі імені Леся Курбаса.
Тривалість: 90 хвилин без антракту.
